Elgin Kiwanis to host wine tasting fundraiser

Submitted by Kiwanis Club of Elgin

On Thursday, Nov. 15, the Kiwanis Club of Elgin will host a wine tasting to support Kiwanis’ worldwide goal of eliminating maternal and neonatal tetanus from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Hickory Stick Bar & Grill, 875 Sports Way in Elgin.

MNT is introduced at birth and needlessly takes the lives of almost 60,000 newborns and 39,000 mothers each year.

To work to prevent these deaths, Kiwanis International is working to raise $110 million by 2015 and partnering with UNICEF to provide tetanus vaccinations to protect at least 61 million women and their babies who are at risk from this disease.

Tickets for this event are $50 each or $350 per table of eight, and include hors d’oeuvres throughout the evening, social/networking opportunities and a limited number of wine tastings.

All monies from the ticket sales will go toward the Eliminate project, while all proceeds from wine purchases, etc. will go toward supporting local organizations that serve the children of the community.

For tickets or information regarding this event, project or the Kiwanis Club of Elgin, contact Rick Poulton at (847) 977-4541 or rpoulton@prodigy.net.
