Des Plaines police, fire departments launch "New York, Des Plaines Has Your Back" - Hurricane Sandy Relief Effort

The Des Plaines Police and Fire Department are coordinating a local relief effort for the people who have been devastated by Hurricane Sandy. The relief effort will be called "New York, Des Plaines Has Your Back".

Des Plaines staff have been working with a representative from the New York City Police Department, who is coordinating relief efforts in the area. He has stated that the items most needed are: cleaning supplies (including bleach), mops, sponges, hoses, garbage bags, paper towels, fans, and dehumidifiers.

In addition, they are in need of baby supplies, including blankets and disposable diapers, non-expired baby formula, hats, scarves, mittens, and blankets.

Donations will be accepted at the following locations:

Des Plaines Police Department, 1418 E. Miner St

Des Plaines Fire Department Station #1, 405 S. River Rd

Des Plaines Fire Department Station #2, 1313 E. Oakton St.

Des Plaines Fire Department Station #3, 130 E. Thacker St
