Property tax appeal seminar in Wheeling

A property tax appeal seminar that will be offered to elderly taxpayers in Wheeling Township seeking to appeal their 2012 property tax assessments at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Wheeling Senior Center, 199 N. First St., Wheeling. The seminar is co-sponsored by the Wheeling Senior Commission and Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Dan Patlak. The hourlong session will educate taxpayers on how to file a successful tax appeal. It includes an explanation of how property taxes are calculated and the appeal procedure of the Board of Review. Taxpayers are asked to bring their most recent bill as they will have an opportunity to work with staff from the Board of Review to address their specific questions and concerns. The event is free to the public and there is no fee to appeal at the Board of Review.
