Cary Physical Therapist Speaks at Cary Grove High School Career Day

Deb Gulbrandson, owner of Cary Physical Therapy, recently spoke at the Cary Grove High School Career Day Event. Career Day is an opportunity for seniors to learn more about various careers that they may be interested in pursuing after High School.

Gulbrandson spoke on the requirements to become a physical therapist – a seven year program leading to a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Job opportunities are plentiful. Gulbrandson related her own career path which included starting the PT Department at Good Shepherd Hospital in 1979, traveling as a consultant to the business industry such a R.J. Reynolds in North Carolina and the Chicago Tribune. She also provided therapy services to the Wisconsin School for the Deaf, taught senior physical therapy students at the former Chicago Medical School (Rosalind Franklin University) and is currently a national speaker on Osteoporosis.

“One of the main points that I wanted to stress to the seniors today is that physical therapy is such a diverse and satisfying career. After I dislocated my elbow when I was fourteen years old, I decided physical therapy was the coolest job in the world! Forty six years later, I still feel the same way”.
