Reuss, Warren put up big numbers in victory

Warren quarterback Adam Reuss rushed for 2 touchdowns and threw for two more to lead the visiting Blue Devils to a 42-0 victory over Mundelein in a North Suburban Lake Division football game Friday night.

Reuss scored on runs of 5 and 13 yards, while Davonte Wilcox scored from 20 yards out, as the Blue Devils built a 21-0 lead in the first quarter.

“We came out shooting from the beginning,” Reuss said. “We kept going.”

In the second quarter, Reuss threw to Javon Charleston for a 6-yard touchdown and finished the half by throwing an 18-yard TD strike to Zach Rapple.

While Warren's offense was scoring, the Blue Devils' defense was holding the Mustangs to only 35 rushing yards and 36 passing yards.

“I feel good about this team,” Warren coach Dave Mohapp said after his team improved to 4-3 and 2-2 in the NSC Lake. “We're getting a little stronger. We had some injuries and some of the guys are (healing). Our offense and defense really did a good job.

“(Mundelein) did a real good job,” Mohapp added. “This is a young program with a new coach. (George Kaider) is doing a good job and they're going to be fine. Their kids played tough all four quarter and they represented their school very well.”

Kaider wasn't happy, however, after his Mustangs fell to 0-7 and 0-5 in the NSC Lake.

“We lacked energy, the competitive spirit,” he said. “I felt that (Warren) was a team that we could have competed with in all three phases of the game. ... I've seen improvement every week up until this week.”
