Grayslake Historical Society events:

Grayslake Historical Society and Museum will begin its fall programs and events with Measuring Avon Township at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12. Grayslake resident John Baumgartner will explain the process used to measure the land and develop maps for Grayslake and the surrounding area. The program will be at the Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum, 164 Hawley St. Light refreshments will be served. The historical society will have old-time candy treats on display — as well as some sold for 1 cent each with a limit of five — during high school homecoming events. Grayslake Central High School’s homecoming events will be Sept. 14 and 15. Homecoming activities for Grayslake North High School will be Sept. 21 and 22. The Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum is open from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and during downtown community events and by appointment.
