To finalize the run of Elgin Public Museum's temporary exhibit, "The Green Scale: Weighing in on the Green Movement," they have partnered with the sponsor, ECCO, and Elgin Recycling for an Electronic Recycling event on Saturday, Sept. 8, between 9 a.m. and noon. It will take place in the parking lot in Lords Park, off Grand Boulevard on Elgin's east side.

Everyone has electronics that need to be disposed of responsibly these days. To find out what will be accepted, you can go to the Elgin Recycling website, Then select the "Electronic Recycling" tab and scroll to "Consumer Electronic Recycling." You will find a list of all the items that can be dropped off. The only stipulation is that TVs must be under 30 inches and not have broken screens.

"The Green Scale: Weighing in on the Green Movement" will be going back to Northern Illinois University on Sept. 10. The exhibit examines the successes, shortcomings and impact of the green movement on our global village. The exhibit is supplemented by art created by recycled materials.

The Elgin Public Museum is located in Lords Park at 225 Grand Blvd. The museum is open from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. To contact the museum, call (847) 741-6655 or email Visit the website at
