Palatine Public Library’s roof being replaced

The Palatine Public Library District this week began work to replace the flat part of the roof at the main library, located at 700 N. North Court. The project will cost nearly $600,000 using funds earmarked for capital expenses. Officials said some noise will be heard in the library, but that little or no interruption in services is expected. The walk-up materials drop may be inaccessible for a short time, and the library will provide as much advance notice as possible. The roof is original to the building, which opened in 1993. The visible metal roof sections are expected to last for many more years.
