PROPERTY TAX APPEAL WORKSHOPS (new) A property tax appeal workshop for Cook County residents will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at the Indian Trails Public Library, 355 S. Schoenbeck Road, Wheeling. Residents of Wheeling Township must file by that evening, as it is the appeal deadline. In Lake County, several tax assessment help events are scheduled: 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, Aug. 21 and 28, University Center of Lake County at CLC, 1200 University Center Drive, Grayslake; 5 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, Aug. 30 to Oct. 25, at the College of Lake County Southlake Campus, 1120 S Milwaukee Ave, Vernon Hills; 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 19 to Oct. 24, at the University Center of Lake County at CLC, 1200 University Center Drive, Grayslake. Assessors' staff will be on hand at each events to assist residents who wish to appeal their assessment. Residents must bring a copy of their current assessment notice to the meeting and can research their property and similar properties online at www.cookcountyassessor.com or http://www.lakecountyil.gov/assessor/Pages/default.aspx. You only have 30 days from the date of your assessment notice to file for a reduction. If you have received your tax bill in Lake County, please check the deadline printed on your notice.
