Crystal Lake store customizes soccer gear

After seven successful years of providing just about anything you need related to soccer out of his Algonquin Soccer Heads store, owner Orhan Senger is now ready to reach an even bigger audience.

Last month he moved his store from its West Algonquin Road location to the Randall Road corridor.

Soccer Heads is now at 1275 N. Randall Road in Crystal Lake, at the intersection of Randall Road and McHenry Avenue.

He says the new location puts him right in the middle of hundreds of soccer players from nearby park districts, and closer to people who head to his store from up and down the Randall Road corridor.

“We needed to grow and we needed more room, and this gives us better visibility and the price was right,” Senger said. “We have a lot more drive-by traffic, and we’re in the middle of three major park districts, and the middle of everything.”

Senger said he first opened his store seven years ago after seeing a need for such a specialty shop in the Fox Valley area, which was filled with a growing number of soccer teams and players, and not enough supplies.

He himself played and coached, and was the father of girls who were in to soccer.

Anytime he needed something for the game, though, he’d have to head to Chicago to get it. So, he decided to open the family-run business.

Since then, Soccer Heads has become a destination spot for soccer players, coaches and fans looking for cleats, balls, socks, jerseys and more.

“We have everything starting at the little kids to the professional levels,” he said. “All the original jerseys from the soccer teams are the big thing right now, especially with the European cup going on. We have hero jerseys, and basically anything in soccer you want, we can fulfill.”

The store has also grown to even more than soccer.

It has become known as the place to go in the area to get your items customized, with lettering and specialty graphics.

If you need your name on the back of your kiddie kickers jersey, or a special design for your indoor soccer team jerseys, that’s where you go.

Senger said he’s even having other sports coming to him for customization, including lots of poms and cheer teams.

“We do printing on garments, embroidery, customization, everything,” he said.
