Glenbard East thrilled for new turf

With great excitement, Glenbard High School District 87, the Glenbard East Booster Club and Lombard Park District have developed a partnership to install synthetic turf in the stadium field at Glenbard East High School. We are excited about the valuable opportunities this project will provide to East students and the community.

Glenbard East uses the field as instructional space for physical education, marching band, and athletics. The park district will use the field for additional summer camps and athletic programming space during the evenings, weekends and summer.

The artificial turf allows the park district to avoid the over-usage of its green space, which in turn saves maintenance costs. The project will be funded through a collaborative funding model, with the park district funding $500,000 of the project in exchange for use of the field, the booster club funding $433,333 and District 87 providing the remaining funds.

This public-private partnership allows for economies of scale for access to recreational spaces by Glenbard East students and the community. For more information, please visit www.eastboosters.com. We look forward to the field being available to the greater Lombard community and the Glenbard East students at the start of the 2012-2013 school year.
