First Year Success for the Just Move it! Challenge 2012!

On Saturday, April 21st, the Arlington Heights Council of PTAs and the ABC/25 Foundation hosted the first “Just Move it! Challenge 2012”. Registered participants totaled 882, including 445 kids and 70 SCHOOL DISTRICT 25 staff members. Students, families, teachers, and administrators from all nine district schools took part in the 5K or 1 Mile run/walk together. The event fostered a great feeling of community, fitness and fun as students wore school colors and cheered their fellow classmates, friends, and teachers across the finish line.

Just Move it! Challenge organizers would like to thank their sponsors for helping make the event possible. Area sponsors included Northwest Community Healthcare, Arlington Teachers' Association, Runners High ‘n Tri, All About Kids Dentistry, Willow Yoga, Crossfit Arlington Heights, Infinite Peripherals, Franczek Radelet Attorneys and Counselors, Krista Fifield Photography. A heartfelt thanks goes to Arlington Heights School District 25 and the Arlington Heights Park District for their help with facilities and planning of the event.

Proceeds from the event go to The Scholarship and Grant Fund, benefiting the education of School District 25 students. ABC/25 Foundation will be making a technology purchase for District 25 classrooms as well as supporting various special teacher and school grants. The Arlington Heights Council of PTAs will be awarding scholarships to graduating seniors who attended District 25 schools. Scholarship selection is based on academic achievement, community involvement, work experiences and motivation.
