Fall Storytimes, play groups begin new schedule at Dundee Library

Fall Storytimes, including Baby Play Group, Alphabet Soup Storytime and more, will resume this week at the Dundee Library, 555 Barrington Ave., East Dundee.

Baby Play Group will resume on Monday, Sept. 24, and will continue every Monday through Nov. 12. This hourlong program at 10 a.m. is an opportunity for parents to socialize with other adults while their little ones play safely under their supervision. Come and find toys to play with, board books to read, puppet friends and other fun activities galore. No registration is necessary.

Preschoolers are welcome to join in the fun at Alphabet Soup Storytime. This free program is offered on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from Sept. 25 through Nov. 14 at 10:30 a.m. The theme is different every week, and activities will include puppets, stories, activities and songs. No registration is necessary.

“Milk & Cookie Storytime” will once again be hosted by Panera Bread, 2484 North Randall Road in Elgin. This special program is just for 3- to 6-year-olds (must be accompanied by an adult). Stories will be presented by librarians from the Dundee Library Children’s Department, and each child will receive a free milk and cookie, compliments of Panera. This program will meet on Sept. 24, Oct. 1, 15, 22, and 29, and Nov. 5 at 9:30 a.m. The program is free, but registration is required. For our Spanish-speaking families, the children’s department will be presenting “Programa de Cuentos en Español” at 7 p.m. Mondays, Oct. 1 and Nov. 5. Children of all ages and their families will enjoy a half-hour of stories, activities and songs, all in Spanish. No registration is required for this free program.

And right around the corner is tricks and treats season. Join a special preschool Halloween Storytime at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30 and Wednesday, Oct. 31. Children are invited to wear their costumes as they listen to spooktacular stories followed by a parade through the Children’s Department. No registration is required.
