Villwock’s goal keeps Grayslake N. unbeaten

Freshman Sam Villwock’s second-half goal snapped a tie and lifted Grayslake North’s girls soccer team to a 4-2 win over host Antioch in a nonconference match Tuesday, keeping the Knights undefeated.

Grayslake North coach Adam DeCaluwe said Villwock showed composure when she found herself with the ball in the box before slotting a shot into the corner of the net.

Goals by sophomore Chelsea Olson and senior Katie Lahera had Grayslake North (5-0) up 2-0 late in the opening half. Junior Jaclyn Brennan and senior Sara Steinhoff had the assists.

After Antioch pulled even in the second half, Villwock scored unassisted. Senior Andrea Lamb finished the scoring for Grayslake North.

“A lot of credit goes to Antioch,” DeCaluwe said. “They really put us under a lot of pressure and made us earn every inch on the field. Our leaders really stepped up and did what was needed to lead our girls to a scrappy victory.”

Regina Dominican 4, Lake Forest Academy 1: Jaclyn Meyers scored off an assist from Mary Kate Hayes for LFA (0-1-1).
