District 59 school board president resigns

Elk Grove Township Elementary District 59 school board President Thomas Dowd has resigned because he moved out of the district’s attendance boundaries, making him ineligible to serve, officials said. The school board is now accepting applications to fill the vacancy. To be eligible, applicants must live within District 59 boundaries, be at least 18 years old, be a registered voter and a U.S. citizen, and not a registered sex offender. Applications must be received by 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at the District 59 Administration Center, 2123 S. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60005.
