Stevenson High School's director of strings, Clark Chaffee, has been named 2012 American String Teachers Association Illinois Teacher of the Year, school officials announced Friday. He will be honored at a luncheon during the Illinois Music Education Association's All-State Conference in Peoria on Jan. 27. Chaffee, who will retire at the end of the school year, was selected for his impact on students and on musical development in the school, community and state, officials said.
