Enjoy some holiday fun at the Dundee library

Take a holiday season breather at the Dundee Township Public Library, 555 Barrington Ave. in East Dundee. Special events are planned for all ages.

Madrigal music: At 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, journey back in time to castles and queens with this holiday-themed madrigal concert by The Elizabethans. Dressed in their elaborate gowns, they will entertain by playing instruments, dancing, and singing Christmas music from many countries and times, including less common melodies as well as familiar favorites, both sacred and secular. Registration is recommended.Winter Crafts: Teens are invited to join the library on their day off school and make fun crafts from household objects at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19. Registration required.Holiday movie: Enjoy a free holiday movie with popcorn and refreshments. #147;Elf#148; (rated PG; 1 hr. 35 min.) will be shown at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21. It stars Will Ferrell, James Caan, Bob Newhart, Zooey Deschanel, Edward Asner, and Mary Steenburgen. No tickets or reservations are required; audience capacity is 80 people. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for free popcorn and refreshments. Children under age 9 must be accompanied by an adult.Mitten Tree: A friendly reminder that the last day for bringing new mittens, gloves, hats and scarves for the Mitten Tree is Wednesday, Dec. 21. The Mitten Tree is located on the lower level in the Children#146;s Department. All items donated will be given to Carpentersville#146;s FISH Food Pantry and the Elgin Community Crisis Center.The library will be closed on Dec. 24, 25, 31 and Jan. 1.The programs are free.
