Walton finds a home at Illinois

Stevenson’s baseball program continues to produce Division I talent.

On Wednesday, senior Adam Walton signed with the University of Illinois.Walton hit .350 for Stevenson last season, leading the team with 38 runs batted in as its starting shortstop. He finished second on the squad in runs scored (30), hits (35), total bases (53) and at-bats (100). He also tied for the team lead with 3 home runs.Walton is the second Patriot to join the Illini baseball program, following Joey Bonadonna (Class of 2003). Iowa and Michigan State were among Walton#146;s other choices.

Boys lacrosse

Stevenson senior Brendan Sheehan is joining the men#146;s lacrosse program at College of the Holy Cross, located in Worcester, Mass.Sheehan, who also plays on the varsity ice hockey team, scored 21 goals and had 34 assists as a midfielder/attacker last season. The three-year varsity player was named to the all-North Suburban Conference team in 2011. He also earned a number of honors as a member of the True Lacrosse travel team. Dartmouth and Middlebury were finalists in his college search.Boys soccer

John Halloran has resigned as Carmel Catholic#146;s boys soccer coach after seven seasons because of family reasons.Halloran had a 97-46-17 record and coached the Corsairs to East Suburban Catholic Conference titles in 2009 and this fall. The Corsairs went 12-6-3 this past season.#147;My son is growing up and I want to spend more time with him,#148; Halloran said.Halloran will remain coaching the girls team. His Corsairs are 131-39-14 in his eight years.#8212; Rusty Silber
