Villa Park couple accused of running prostitution ring

A Villa Park couple is accused of running an interstate prostitution ring that brought women from California and Pennsylvania into DuPage County, authorities said Tuesday.

Michael Hays, 36, and his girlfriend Jarmilla Jakosova, 29, both of the 400 block of South Oakland Avenue, surrendered last week to face charges stemming from a seven-month investigation dubbed “Operation China Dolls,” police said.

Officials with the DuPage Metropolitan Enforcement Group (DuMeg) said four prostitutes who worked for Hays and Jakosova were arrested in the past several months while operating out of hotels and apartments in towns including Downers Grove and Westmont.

“It was pretty much countywide,” DuMeg Director Matt Gainer said Tuesday. “The organizers were local, but all the prostitutes, it seemed, came from out of state.” Gainer said Hays and Jakosova had been detained and interviewed by police. They surrendered Nov. 3 after a warrant was issued for their arrest on charges of promoting prostitution and drug possession, he said.

Also arrested were Jenny Huynh, 36, of Los Angeles, Calif.; Bamila Ibrahim, 36, of Fountain Valley, Calif.; and Philadelphia, Pa., residents Yen Kim Doan, 38, and Jinying Chen, 32. Authorities said they each were charged with prostitution.

DuMeg said Downers Grove and Westmont police assisted in the investigation.
