Haunted trail and bonfire:

The Lindenhurst Park District offers a day of thrills at its haunted trail and bonfire Saturday, Oct. 15. Participants walking the winding, wooded path through Forest View Park, 513 Forest View Drive, will see about a dozen spooky scenes for $1 per person. The trail will be open from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wagon rides through McDonald Woods are also are available from 3 to 6 p.m. for $1 or a canned food item for the Lake Villa Food Pantry. Other attractions include the Witches' Kitchen, where you can purchase treats, a kids' game tent, face painting, moonwalk and pumpkins and gourds for sale. At dusk, the Lake Villa Volunteer Fire Department will start the bonfire and free apple cider will be served. Call (847) 356-6011 or visit
