Hersey, Elk Grove and BG earn MSL East wins

Hersey d. Prospect: The host Huskies produced an impressive 133-53 victory over the Knights on Thursday behind 1-2 finishes in the 200 medley and 400 free relays, and two individual wins from Amanda Petro (200, 100 freestyles).

Other winners for the Huskies were Bethany Figiel (200 IM), Kelsey O’Donnell (100 fly), Erin Horne (100 back) and Karolina Szymaszek (500 free).

Prospect’s Jessica Cavaiani won the 50 free (26.16) and 100 breaststroke (1:08.80), and the Knights got a stellar diving effort from freshman Dana Liva (223.0).

Elk Grove d. Rolling Meadows: The Grens won the meet’s last event, the 400 freestyle relay, to edge the Mustangs 95-90 in the facility shared by both programs at Elk Grove.

Jackie Hirschauer, Angelica Ford, Natalia Struk and Simona Kurta won in 4:00.73.

Other key races included Ford edging Meadows’ Jessica Dykstra in the 200 free and Kurta beating Meadows’ Vicky Vockeroth in the 100 fly.

Individual winners for Meadows included Vockeroth in the 50 free (26.04), Dykstra in the 100 free (59.56), Angela D’Astice in the 500 free (6:11.67) and Meaghan O’Brien in the 100 breaststroke (1:17.81).

Elk Grove winners included Jackie Hirschauer (200 IM), Ford (100 back) and a 1-2 finish in diving from Natalie Przybylski and Ioana Manahilova.

Buffalo Grove d. Wheeling: The Bison won all three relays to earn an MSL East dual victory over the host Wildcats 124-61.

Multiple individual winners for Buffalo Grove were Veronika Jedryka (200 IM, 500 free) and Sara Fasching (200 free, 100 fly). The Bison also had winners in Callie Fasching (100 back), Margaret Lotzer (100 breaststroke), Sara Morosan (50 free) and Amy Mueller (diving).

Leah Malsom won the 100 free for Wheeling.
