Grayslake Scouts to laud American heroes at ceremony

Local Cub Scouts, along with Grayslake and Hainesville village governments and other organizations, are combining to host what organizers are calling an American Heroes Community Celebration.

It will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, at Grayslake North High School, 1925 N. Route 83. A formal program will begin at noon featuring local leaders and patriotic music.

An American Heroes Celebration is designed to honor men and women who serve in the military, police, fire and public works departments. Service members are encouraged to wear their uniforms.

Cub Scout Pack 91 — with support from the villages of Grayslake and Hainesville, Grayslake school districts 46 and 127 and several community organizations — are behind the American Heroes Community Celebration.

Pack 91, together with the community partners, hopes to create a memorable day celebrating unsung heroes on the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Event organizers Michele Bauman and Debbie Genc are hoping to fill the Grayslake North football stadium to show the American heroes how much they are appreciated.

For details, contact Bauman at (847) 514-7087 or email Genc at dagenc@comcast.net.
