Heelan heatin’ up for Mundelein

Mundelein d. Libertyville: At Pine Meadow Golf Club, fresh off his win in the Lake County Invitational on Monday, Mundelein’s Grant Heelan fired a 2-under-par 34 to lead the Mustangs (150) to a 10-stroke victory Thursday.

Brett Cigelnik and David Krueger added a 37 and 39, respectively, for the Mustangs, and Brady Witt carded a 40.

Libertyville (140) was led by Billy Knutson’s 39 and 40s from Alex Quenan and John Cordan. Peter Henderson had a 41 for the Wildcats.

Lakes d. Carmel: At Antioch Golf Club, Matt Hirsch kept up his hot start to the season, earning medalist honors with a 37, and the Eagles (161) edged the Corsairs (166).

Lakes also received a 39 from Cody Franke.

Carmel was paced by Nathan Ley’s 40 and David Thoensen’s 41.

Grayslake Central d. Johnsburg: At Stonewall Orchard Golf Club, the Rams shot 173 for a 17-stroke win in Fox Valley Fox action.

Grayslake Central’s Colton Brunk was medalist with a 42. Kyle Balling and Tanner Hermes had 43s for the Rams.

Hampshire d. Grayslake North: At Renwood Golf Course, the Fox Valley Conference newcomers shot 171 to edge the host Knights by 2 strokes.

Grayslake North sophomore Christian DiBerardino and Hampshire’s Jeremy Yoder each shot a 37 to tie for medalist honors.
