Kowalski shoots 67, set Prospect record

Prospect senior Ryan Kowalski set a program record by shooting 67 at Mt. Prospect Golf Club, helping the Knights top Maine West 296-328 in the process on Saturday.

Kowalski came in at 36 after the front nine, then finished with a blistering 31 over the back nine. That tied the program record for nine holes.

He produced five birdies on the back nine, including consecutive birdies on Nos. 11, 12 and 13.

“He was pretty patient on the front nine,” said Prospect coach Tom Martindale, “and then I think once he got to 2-under, he said, ‘Let’s see what I can do here.’ ”

Kowalski finished at 4-under par.
