Man pleads not guilty in home invasion

A Warren Township man accused of forcing his way into a house and robbing an occupant at gunpoint pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Lake County Circuit Court.

Kevin Curtis, 25, faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted of home invasion and armed robbery in the case.

Assistant State’s Attorney Rod Drobinski said Curtis, of the 18400 block of Route 120, and a second man entered a house in the 1200 block of Main Street in Antioch around 11 p.m. on June 11.

Drobinski said Curtis held a gun to the head of an occupant of the house and stole $3,400 in cash from him.

The second man, who police are still seeking to question, was armed with a baseball bat at the time, Drobinski said.

Witnesses identified both to Antioch police investigators, and Curtis was arrested about two weeks after the crime.

He appeared before Circuit Judge Daniel Shanes on Wednesday and was ordered to return to court July 22.

Curtis is held in the Lake County jail on $250,000 bond.
