New principals named at Grayslake District 46

Grayslake Elementary District 46 didn’t go far to find replacements for two principals departing at month’s end.

Cathy Sentelle and Matt Melamed were approved for the promotions from their current District 46 jobs at a board meeting earlier this week.

Sentelle will take over July 1 at Woodview School in Grayslake, a building for kindergarten through fourth grade. She has been assistant principal at Frederick School in Grayslake, a fifth- and sixth-grade building.

Woodview’s top job opened with the resignation of Jeff Knapp, who’s leaving to become principal at Libertyville Elementary District 70’s Rockland School.

District 46 curriculum coordinator Matt Melamed will assume command July 1 at Park Campus in Round Lake, which handles kindergarten through eighth grade. Park Principal Craig Keer is leaving for the same job at North Shore School District 112’s Indian Trail Elementary School in Highland Park.

District 46 board members approved the appointments of Sentelle and Melamed in separate 6-0 votes Tuesday night.

Earlier this year, District 46 accepted the resignation of Principal Amanda Schoenberg, who heads Prairieview School in Hainesville. Park Campus Assistant Principal Vince Murray was named as Schoenberg’s replacement at the building for kindergarten through fourth grade.
