Kudos for Glenbard North triumph

text size: AAA

Congratulations to the Glenbard North 2011 Illinois Dual Wrestling Team Champions. As parents of a former Glenbard North wrestler, we know exactly what it is to be a member of the GBN wrestling family. Although our son has been out of high school for five years now, we continue to support this terrific program.

After two second-place finishes and five third-place finishes over the last decade, this year’s team achieved what those other teams fell just short of ... winning a state championship. As Coach Mark Hahn said when the team was welcomed home, this win was for the current wrestlers, the former wrestlers, the parents and all of the fans.

We offer our congratulations to the wrestlers for their hard work and dedication throughout the season. We knew from day one this team was special.

To the coaches: although it was a long time coming, we cannot think of a more deserving group of coaches. We have seen firsthand the time and dedication you give to your team year in and year out. You deserve to see that pay off.

We would be remiss if we did not single out Coach Hahn. It has been our distinct privilege and pleasure to get to know you over these many years. You have been and continue to be a major influence in our son’s life. And although we like to think we had a part in the young man he has become, we also know that because of his association with Glenbard North wrestling and particularly you that he is who he is and why he is now a successful coach himself. So our heartiest congratulations to you for bringing home a richly deserved championship.

Kathy and Mark Schultz
