Scouting Marengo at Burlington Central

Marengo (2-6, 2-2) at Burlington Central (2-6, 2-2)

When: today at 7 p.m. at Rocket Hill

Last year: Burlington Central 21, Marengo 14

Last week: North Boone 28, Burlington Central 27; Marengo 44, Hampshire 21

Outlook: It's been a while since Marengo entered this matchup as the hotter team. The Indians have won two in a row for the first time since 2004. Wins in Big Northern Conference play over North Boone and Hampshire are Marengo's first since the divisions were named Red and White instead of East and West. “They're playing their best ball in a while,” Rockets coach Aaron Wichman said. “They're more physical than they've been in the past. They're in a pro set most of the time, but they'll change it up a little bit. They'll come right at you. Their quarterback is a decent athlete, and they've got a back with some decent speed. They're playing good football right now.” The Rockets would like to end the season on a positive note with a win on Senior Night. The players remain determined to finish the season strong. This week several Rockets gathered to shave their heads in a show of team unity. “Morale has been good,” Wichman said. “As far as wins and losses, it's not how we wanted it to go. But when we go out to practice it feels like we're 6-2, not 2-6. It's been fun going out to practice. We've had a lot of fun the last week and a half with these guys. It's all been positive, so I'm looking forward to carrying through to (tonight).”
