Fall fest in Pingree Grove:The Pingree Grove Events Committee and Goebbert's Pumpkin Farm are organizing a fall festival, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at the farm. There will be raffles, pie-eating contests, doughnuts and apple cider. Tickets are $8 and Pingree Grove residents can buy one and get one free, but only up to six tickets. After the festival, you are welcome to stay at the farm to buy pumpkins or visit the animals in its petting zoo. The farm is at 42W813 Reinking Road, Pingree Grove. The classes will be offered through the Healthy Lifestyle and Wellness Initiative led by the U-46 Department of Food and Nutrition Services. The classes, which start in October, will be held at 355 E. Chicago St., Room 213. Participants will receive free food and a certificate of completion. A mechanic will check hoses, fluids, lights and other items during the 20 minute inspection, but no repairs will be made on site. The clinic also includes a car wash by South Elgin Police Explorers.
