Kane Co. educator awards to be bestowed Friday

The county's top teachers, school administrators and school support workers will be honored Friday night in St. Charles.

The Kane County Regional Office of Education's 35th annual awards banquet will be held at the Pheasant Run Mega Center.

Awards will be presented in six categories: special educator, elementary school teacher, middle school teacher, high school teacher, administrator and support staff.

One of the nominees will be named the overall Educator of the Year.

The 2009 Educator of the Year was Deborah Perryman of Elgin School District U-46.

People from eight of Kane County's nine public school districts were nominated. No private-school educators were nominated.
