    The Northwest Cultural Council will hold its Second Saturday Poetry Workshop from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 14, at the Palatine Public Library, 700 N. North Court, Palatine. Poet Deborah Nodler Rosen will lead the discussion of the event’s topic, “Where Do You Find Your Poems?”

    NorthWest Families for Life’s third annual March for Life from St. Theresa Parish in Palatine Saturday was among several Archdiocese of Chicago events protesting the 42nd anniversary of the Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion. Hundreds of people of all ages carried signs and chanted slogans. Palatine police stopped traffic on Northwest Highway for about 10 minutes as the marchers crossed at Benton Street.

    Palatine residents will have an opportunity to let village officials know how they feel about video gambling. The village council on Monday voted to place an advisory referendum question on the April 7 ballot. The question will read: “Should the Village of Palatine consider video gaming (as defined by the Illinois Video Gaming Act) at restaurants and bars that hold a liquor license?”
