  • Palatine Amateur Football Association offers skill development Mar 26, 2014 12:58 PM
    The Palatine Amateur Football Association, also known as PAFA, is an organized, full-contact youth travel football program for children in grades three through eight. In order to participate in the 2014 season, players must be ages 8 to 14 as of Sept. 1, 2014. Teams are formed based on age, weight, and experience. The PAFA teams play other communities in the Northwest Youth Football League (NWYFL) including the Arlington Heights Cowboys, the Elk Grove Village Chiefs, the Mountt Prospect Lions, and the Schaumburg Vikings.

    The Palatine Park District will mark the 160th anniversary of the birth of Charles Cutting, namesake of the Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center, this Saturday with an open house at the historic theater. The event, which is free and open to the public, takes place from 2 to 4 p.m. at the theater, 150 E. Wood Street in Palatine. The open house will highlight recent renovations to the theater and guided tours will be available.

    The Children of Uganda will bring their Tour of Light to Palatineís Cutting Hall for a Feb. 4 performance. Most proceeds from the performance, which also will feature the Palatine Childrenís Chorus and choir from St. Peter Lutheran School in Arlington Heights, will benefit orphaned and vulnerable children in the African nation.
