    It has been more than 45 years since Bill Dussling served in Vietnam, but talking about his time as a helicopter pilot in the Army still brings up new memories and emotions for the Arlington Heights resident and Northwest Suburban High School District 214 board president. Dussling shared stories from his service in Vietnam with students at Prospect High School on Tuesday morning as part of their unit studying the war.

On Wednesday, she found a much larger audience for her work. Colabuono, of Arlington Heights, took first place in the visual art portion of the Daily Herald’s Community Art & Writing Contest for her photo “Wood Nymph.”

On Monday and Tuesday, girls from Rolling Meadows, Elk Grove, Wheeling and Buffalo Grove high schools are choosing from a selection of more than 400 donated prom dresses of all colors and sizes.

    The Northwest Suburban High School District 214 Board of Education on Thursday appointed Lisa Soukup to the position of Prospect High School dean of students. Soukup has taught literature and composition at Rolling Meadows High School since 2002 and held numerous co-curricular assignments. She will replace Patricia Tedaldi-Monti, who will retire in June after 21 years as Prospect dean.
