Charles Amrich, Island Lake's elected leader from 1985 to 2005, was sworn in Thursday at village hall, along with four of his political allies. "It feels good," Amrich told the Daily Herald moments after taking the oath from McHenry County Judge Michael Feetterer in a boardroom filled with supporters. "It feels like it did a long time ago."

Vince Carbonaro, Michael Camerer and Aaron Reinke were sworn in as the new village trustees and Village Clerk Lorna Giless began her second term in the position.

New Wheeling Village President Dean Argiris plans one meeting to explain trustees' priorities to the village plan commission and another to make peace over Chicago Executive Airport with Nick Helmer, mayor of Prospect Heights. The joint meeting between the village board and the plan commission will be May 30 and the meeting with Helmer May 13, Argiris said Monday after Cook County Clerk David Orr led him in the oath of office.

With a room full of friends and family members cheering them on, Mayor Matt Bogusz, City Clerk Gloria Ludwig, two re-elected aldermen and two newly elected aldermen were sworn in Monday night. Face flushed with emotion, Bogusz, 26, took the helm as Des Plaines youngest mayor. He expressed gratitude for the support of voters and those who worked tirelessly on his election campaign.

New mayors debut in Lake Zurich, Round Lake May 6, 2013 12:00 AM
New mayors were sworn in Monday in Lake Zurich and Round Lake. Thomas Poynton moved up from trustee to the mayor's post in Lake Zurich, replacing Suzanne Branding. Poynton said he already has been pushing for improved communications with village residents. In Round Lake, political newcomer Daniel MacGillis assumed James Dietz's seat as mayor. MacGillis said he's been busily preparing for office by acclimating himself with different organizations.

Barrington Hills got its ninth village president Monday — and its second named McLaughlin — as newly elected Martin McLaughlin took the oath of office. He succeeded Robert Abboud, whom he defeated in the April 9 election by 647 votes to 504. according to the official canvass that the old board approved just before the swearing-in ceremony.
