22 people, mostly kids, hurt in Tri-State Tollway bus crash Dec 19, 2012 12:00 AM
Twenty-two people, most of them children, were hurt Wednesday when a school bus from Palombi Middle School in Lake Villa was involved in a crash on the Tri-State Tollway, police said. The crash occurred about 9:30 a.m. near Deerfield Road, Illinois State Police Sgt. Timothy Moore said. All of the injuries were minor. "Bumps and bruises, mostly," Moore said.

Lake Villa Elementary District 41 will eliminate the equivalent of 20 staff positions and cut operational expenses by $400,000 starting at the end of the 2011-12 school year to address its budget deficit. “Please know that we make these reductions with a heavy heart tonight, but they are necessary for the financial stability of this district,” board president Darla Vanderwall said during a school board meeting Monday.
