Lake Villa School District 41 voters aim to send two incumbents and a newcomer to the school board on Tuesday. With ballots in all 22 Lake County precincts counted, unofficial results show winners as incumbent Kurt Hansen with 653 votes; Michele Hawksworth with 543 votes; and newcomer Jolene Lee with 535 votes.

22 people, mostly kids, hurt in Tri-State Tollway bus crash Dec 19, 2012 12:00 AM
Twenty-two people, most of them children, were hurt Wednesday when a school bus from Palombi Middle School in Lake Villa was involved in a crash on the Tri-State Tollway, police said. The crash occurred about 9:30 a.m. near Deerfield Road, Illinois State Police Sgt. Timothy Moore said. All of the injuries were minor. "Bumps and bruises, mostly," Moore said.

A Lake Villa elementary school was on lockdown for about an hour Friday when a suicidal man who lives nearby left his house, authorities said. Members of the Lake County sheriff's police were dispatched to the area near Olive Martin School, 24750 W. Dering Lane, at 11:24 a.m.
