A 13th-round draft choice of the Houston Astros out of Northwestern in 2009, Goebbert finished the season with 22 hits in 101 major league at-bats, including a home run, 3 triples and 10 RBI.`

    Senior Kiwaun “Kiwi” Seals delivered the greatest scoring performance in Dundee-Crown’s 31-year history in a 50-48 victory over Cary-Grove in Carpentersville on Tuesday. Seals scored 42 points, capped by the game-winning free throws with 2.2 seconds to play, eclipsing the previous school record of 37 points set by 2000 graduate Mike McKibben in a game against Lake Zurich.

Sprinting out to a 13-0 lead and never looking back, the Fillies ran away with a 66-32 win in the 13th place game over the host Chargers in Dundee.

    Kelly Harris had a lot of motivation to step up in the second half for her Bartlett girls basketball team Saturday. “Kelly is not really a morning person,” said Hawks’ coach Denise Sarna, “and I reminded all of them at halftime that losing this game meant we would be playing at 9:30 Monday morning.” Harris added: “Coach got in my face (at halftime) and told me I looked like I was going to cry out there. The first half was not good for me so I picked it up in the second half.” And how. The 6-foot-1 junior scored 16 of her career-high 24 points in the final 16 minutes, including 10 in the fourth quarter, as the Hawks came from behind to beat Dundee-Crown 65-62 in a consolation bracket game of the 32nd annual Charger Classic at D-C.

    Dundee-Crown exhibited its dangerous potential in two second-half stretches which totaled just 4½ minutes on Friday night at Lou Ramirez Gymnasium in Richmond. The first 10-point run in the third quarter put the Chargers ahead to stay in their opening game of the Northern Illinois Holiday Classic girls basketball tournament.
