The Buffalo Grove Park District will receive a grant for $149,250 toward the Raupp Museum's Buffalo Grove Crossroads Exhibit, formerly the Town Square Exhibit.

Longtime Buffalo Grove golf course manager retires Nov 16, 2012 12:00 AM
Since their inception, Carmen Molinaro has been the face of Buffalo Grove's golf courses. This week, the Buffalo Grove village board said goodbye to Molinaro, who has retired from his position running the Buffalo Grove and Arboretum golf courses for 39 years. "I'll finally get to play some golf, which, when you're in the business, you really don't get to do," Molinaro said.

Buffalo Grove finally getting performing arts center? Sep 25, 2012 12:00 AM
Two decades of discussions about Bufflao Grove's need for a performing arts center finally are bearing fruit. The park district Monday authorized the $3.7 million purchase of the Congregation Beth Am property at 225 McHenry Road and plan to convert it into a 450-500 seat performing arts center.

Race to close some Buffalo Grove streets Aug 28, 2012 12:00 AM
Buffalo Grove District's Friends of the Parks Foundation will be hosting its annual 5k and 10k race, the Buffalo Grove Stampede, on the morning of Sunday, Sept. 2. The race begins and ends at Mike Rylko Community Park near the Spray N Play entrance, located at 951 McHenry Road.

Buffalo Grove Days 2012 opens Wednesday with the annual charity softball game and closes Monday with the Rotary duck race, and in between is five full days of food, rides, music (including Casey Abrams from "American Idol," and Jamie Lono from "The Voice"), games, arts and crafts, instructional classes by the police, a business expo, parade, fireworks and much, much more.

BG Singers collecting instruments for Manilow Music Project Aug 7, 2012 12:00 AM
The Buffalo Grove Park District's BG Singers are currently collecting new or gently used musical instruments and monetary donations to support the Manilow Music Project. Founded by Barry Manilow, the charity provides musical instruments to schools where music programs have been cut due to lack of funding.

The Buffalo Grove Park District has contracted to buy the Congregation Beth Am property at 225 McHenry Road for redevelopment as a community performing arts center. The property, which currently houses the congregation and the Torah Academy school, was on the market and caught the park district's eye. "It looks like it's a win-win," Trustee Jeffrey Berman said.

Kilmer Park in Buffalo Grove to be rebuilt Jun 27, 2012 12:00 AM
The Buffalo Grove Park District plans to spend $788,000 next year to rebuild Kilmer Park after getting a state grant to cover half that cost. "We are very excited about receiving this grant, which will enable us to dramatically improve Kilmer Park," the district's executive director, Dan Schimmel, said in a news release.
