Antioch to begin construction bidding for new pool May 22, 2012 12:00 AM
After being a part of summer in Antioch for 56 years, Williams Park pool is being readied to open June 2 for one last season before an extensive makeover project. A final design has been sent to the Illinois Department of Public Health for review, and construction bidding for the new aquatic center will begin next month. "It gives to village residents what they were looking for," said Shawn Roby, the village's parks and recreation director.

On Saturday, April 7, the village of Antiochs Parks & Recreation Department will hold its 21st Annual Eggcellent Easter Adventure at Williams Park in Antioch. The Easter Parade will be at 10:30 a.m. on Main Street. The egg hunt will follow immediately at 11 a.m.

Lake Villa’s parks and recreation department has closed and will no longer offer programs and classes to residents due to budget woes. The classes and programs were funded entirely by participation fees, but that wasn’t enough to cover costs, officials said. It operated as a village department and not a separate taxing body, such as a local park district.
