Tap small business expertise at the library

Local small business owners, entrepreneurs and cottage industries that need help starting or growing their business now can access free expertise and assistance at the library, thanks to a new partnership between Vernon Area Public Library and SCORE Chicago.

Do you have a great business idea, but you're unsure where to begin? Need help untangling the world of government contracting? Intimidated by e-commerce? Whatever your business concern, a SCORE business mentor can offer advice and guidance.

SCORE counselors are current or retired business owners or executives. When your appointment request is received, you are matched with a counselor that can help with your situation. Options range from business accounting and budgeting to government contracting to tax planning, technology or contracting. There is no charge for the program.

One-hour appointments are available on the third Wednesday of each month starting on June 20. To reserve a slot and explore a more comprehensive list of topics, visit https://vapld.info/score.

"I look forward to guiding new or small business with my experience in business strategy, traditional and digital marketing, and sales," said Karen Spesard, SCORE Chicago Branch Manager for the mentoring program at the Vernon Area Public Library.
