Glencoe's Aitz Hayim to Feature Insights from Jewish Scholar Steven T. Katz on the Ways that World War I Dramatically Altered Jewish History

Steven T. Katz, the distinguished head of the Eli Wiesel Center for Jewish Studies at Boston University, will return to Aitz Hayim on March 23 and 24 to reflect how World War I -- the war to end all wars-- created circumstances that continues to influence the global community. It introduced new methods of military action, dreams of international cooperation and opportunities for national destiny. It left unresolved problems that still plague the world, even as it dramatically altered Jewish history.

The March 23 event will take place in the Tross Family Education Center at North Shore Congregation Israel, 1185 Sheridan Road, Glencoe. A Kabbalat Shabbat service will be held starting at 6:30 PM, followed by Dr. Katz's presentation and a potluck dinner. Dinner reservations are required by calling 847-835-3232 or emailing aitzhayim@gmail.com.

On March 24, the discussion by Dr. Katz will continue following a 10:00am service in the Tross Family Education Center. A Shabbat lunch will be served.
