YWCA Elgin Cinderella's Closet event to make prom dreams a reality

On Saturday, March 17, the YWCA Elgin and Claire's will help make dreams come true for hundreds of modern-day Cinderellas at the 14th annual "Cinderella's Closet" event. It is a fun formal wear boutique where high school girls can "shop" for dresses, jewelry, purses, shoes and makeup (while supplies last) for a $15 suggested donation.

At the event, girls are greeted by "Fairy Godmothers" who serve as their personal shoppers as they select from thousands of beautiful dresses - all current styles, many new with tags, in sizes ranging from petites to plus sizes. Once each girl has found her dream dress, she can select jewelry and other accessories to complete her outfit.

To be eligible for entry, girls need to be a current high school student with proof of enrollment. Any girl currently enrolled in high school is welcome to attend Cinderella's Closet.

New this year, Claire's will be the 2018 Cinderella's Closet Presenting Sponsor. As a part of their sponsorship, Claire's will be providing jewelry to the girls attending the event. Marin Salon & Spa will be creating basic updos on event attendees while they wait and Cook's Ice Cream will be selling snacks in the lobby of the YWCA Elgin.

The "Cinderella's Closet" Prom Event will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at the YWCA Elgin, 220 E. Chicago St., Elgin. For information about the Cinderella's Closet event or volunteer opportunities, visit www.ywcaelgin.org/CC2018 or call the YWCA Elgin at (847) 742-7930.
