COD Women's Soccer Player Melissa Philips Named NJCAA Player of the Week

Lady Chaparral soccer captain Melissa Philips has been named Division III offensive player of the week for Sept. 11 to 17 by the National Junior College Athletic Association.

Phillips, a sophomore midfielder and Glenbard East graduate, scored 12 goals for her team against Milwaukee Area Tech and Rochester. Overall, she has scored 21 goals as a Chaparrals with two assists.

The Lady Chaparrals are 6-5-1 this season. Their four-game winning streak was snapped in their Sept. 24 matchup against Southwestern Illinois University.

The team hosts Joliet Junior College Wednesday, Sept. 27, before traveling to Rock Valley Friday, Sept. 29.

College of DuPage is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association, National Junior College Athletic Association Region IV and North Central Community College Conference (N4C). The College's Athletics program offers eight men's and seven women's sports teams each year, including track and field, cross country, football, volleyball, golf, basketball, tennis, baseball, softball and soccer. All home games are played on the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd., and are free and open to the public.
