Arboretum of South Barrington Hosts its First Art Festival October 7th and 8th

The 1st Annual Arboretum of South Barrington Art Festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday, October 7th and 8th from 10 am to 5 pm each day. Located in the beautiful village of South Barrington at the upscale Arboretum shopping mall, the country's finest artists will showcase their work at this free, family-friendly outdoor art festival.

"We're thrilled to have an art show in South Barrington," said Amy Amdur, president of Amdur Productions, who is the producer of this art festival, as well as dozens of others throughout the Chicagoland area. "The Arboretum, with its mix of shops, restaurants and entertainment venues, is the ideal location for an art fest," she adds. "Our artists were very excited when they heard about this event, and were eager to be part of it," she continues. "And, the community has been so welcoming," she adds. "With dozens of artists featuring every medium imaginable, I have no doubt that attendees will like what they see. These artists are at the top of their game."

Being a juried show, every artist had to apply and show samples of their work. Only the best of the best were chosen for the Arboretum of South Barrington Art Festival. Visitors to the show will find spectacular art on display and for sale including oil, acrylic, watercolor, jewelry, sculpture, photography, glass, mixed media, wearable art, and much more. Attendees will also have an opportunity to get up close and personal with the artists thanks to booth chats and live art demonstrations. There will be live music all weekend long, as well as food from local restaurants.

As with all Amdur Productions art festivals, there's something for everyone. Young attendees are invited to visit an area just for them where they can participate in "Draw for the Troops," a new program launched this year by Amdur Productions. Kids of all ages are welcome to color a special picture for the brave men and women serving our country. At the end of the show, the drawings will be sent by Amdur to the troops stationed in the U.S. and abroad. Other activities for kids include an art scavenger hunt, spin art, and a giant graffiti wall.

Amdur Productions is pleased to announce that Bright Pink is the charity chosen for the Arboretum of South Barrington Art Festival's Green Ribbon Project. Participating artists will be placing a green ribbon on a piece of art in their booth. If the piece is sold during the fest, then the artist will donate 10% of the proceeds to Bright Pink. The Chicago-based Bright Pink is the only national non-profit organization focused on prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women.

"Since its launch 2 years ago, the Green Ribbon Project has been quite successful," said Amdur. "We've donated thousands of dollars to such important causes as Bright Pink, the American Cancer Society, PADS, Greater Chicago Food Depository, Chicago Special Olympics, Spinal Cord Injury Association of Illinois and more," she added. "It's wonderful to see that our artists are just as enthusiastic as we are about giving back to the community."
