Burlington’s Hunnicutt seeks team goals first
Burlington Central guard Ray Hunnicutt will chase two significant achievements as the boys basketball season winds down, but he said this week the individual milestone he’s flirting with would pale in comparison to the realization of an elusive team goal. A fourth-year varsity guard, Hunnicutt has scored 1,399 career points. That’s good for third on Central’s list of all-time leading scorers behind 1995 graduate Gavin Schairer (1,504) and 2002 graduate Andrew Nolan (1,404).

St. Viator finishes off Benet
Stellar defense down the stretch and timely shooting by senior forward Kevin Walsh lifted St. Viator to a thrilling 50-42 win over Benet on Thursday night at Cahill Gymnasium in Arlington Heights. The win kept St. Viator on top of the East Suburban Catholic Conference with a 5-0 mark and an 18-3 overall record.

Productive Senior Night for St. Edward
It was a happy Senior Night for St. Edward’s girls basketball team, but the Green Wave is hoping they are far from finished with the season. The Green Wave hit visiting Hinckley-Big Rock with a stifling defense in the second half and had just enough offense to come away with a 44-33 nonconference victory in Elgin, St. Edward’s fifth win in a row.

Naperville Central takes Wheaton North’s best shot
Wheaton North sent its Falcons in waves at Naperville Central on Thursday night. The Redhawks just waved the Falcons off. Naperville Central continued its hot streak, winning 52-43 in Wheaton for its seventh consecutive victory and 11th in its last 13 games, taking a physical, hotly contested matchup that saw Wheaton North substitute in fives throughout.

The Tri-Cities has three girls gymnastics teams that face each during friendly, yet competitive meets during the regular season as part of the Upstate Eight Conference.
