    In four of the last six football seasons, Glenbard West finished the regular season with a perfect record. The Hilltoppers took a huge step in making it five of seven on Saturday. In a showdown between unbeaten leaders from the West Suburban Conference Silver and Gold divisions, Glenbard West knocked off visiting Addison Trail 33-15 at Glen Ellyn’s Duchon Field.

    With five, the Vernon Hills football team is still alive. The Cougars have been in must-win mode for a while now, and they keep rising to the occasion. Their latest triumph in staying relevant in the playoff race was a 20-6 win at Grant on Saturday afternoon.     All eyes were fixed on Conant senior Zach Dale on Saturday at the Mid-Suburban League boys cross country meet, and the Cougar senior didn’t disappoint.     Kirby Einck has won her share of tennis matches throughout her 4-year career at Geneva — more than 120 and counting. She has captured individual Upstate Eight Conference River Division titles, numerous tournament crowns and led the Vikings to conference and sectional team championships. Heading into the weekend, however, she had never won an individual sectional title.

    This time it was Prairie Ridge’s turn. Jacobs edged the Wolves at last week’s Fox Valley Conference girls tennis tournament, but it was Prairie Ridge taking the team title at the Huntley sectional Saturday. Prairie Ridge totaled 25 points to 19 for Jacobs. Crystal Lake Central was close behind in third with 16 points.
