Baseball: Naperville Central, Glenbard North, ICCP win

Naperville Central 9, Naperville North 1:

After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first, the Redhawks (16-7, 11-6) responded with 9 straight runs to prevail in the DuPage Valley. Ryan Eiermann went 2-for-3 with a home run and 2 RBI. Jack Hughes added 2 hits and 3 RBI. Nick Rietz went the distance, pitching a 3-hitter. Matt Schwartz drove in the lone run for Naperville North (9-14, 9-8).

Glenbard North 14, Lake Park 6:

The Panthers (10-14, 5-11) pulled away in the DuPage Valley game by scoring 5 runs in the top of the sixth. Winning pitcher Anthony Sottile went 2-for-3 with 3 RBI while Zach Heck and Nick Frawley each went 3-for-5 and combined for 3 RBI. Guiseppe Riggio went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI. Paul Beverly and Ian Renger drove in 2 runs for Lake Park (9-13, 5-11).

Notre Dame 6-11, Benet 0-12:

The Redwings (18-7, 8-3) held on to win the second game of the East Suburban Catholic doubleheader after building an 11-1 second-inning lead. Marty Dosen drove in 2 runs while Erik Jones and Mike Dunn had 2 hits apiece. Jake Young stranded the tying run at first base in the top of the seventh inning to earn the save.

IC Catholic Prep 3, Timothy Christian 1:

Complete-game winning pitcher C.J. West scattered 9 hits for the Knights (11-13). Jonny Strube went 3-for-3 for Timothy Christian (14-9).

Downers North 5, Willowbrook 2:

Jeremy Del Valle went the distance in a 3-hitter as the Trojans (14-11) built a 5-0 lead after three innings. Five players had hits, and four players drove in runs.

Downers South 9, Glenbard West 6:

The Hilltoppers (11-14) took a 5-4 lead in the third inning but Downers South (19-8) responded with 5 runs in the final three innings. Winning pitcher Cameron Crowley and Michael Hall had 3 RBI. Brett Riegler went 3-for-4. Grant Lalla, who drove in 2 runs, and Jack Campanella went 2-for-4 for Glenbard West.

Hinsdale Central 12-7, Oak Park 6-4:

The Red Devils (16-6, 9-3) swept the critical West Suburban Silver series. Andrew Harris and Travis Pelton homered in the opener while Tyler Jurack went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI in the second game, which was won by Hinsdale Central with a 6-run top of the eighth.
