Man charged with sexually assaulting Palatine woman after date
A Northbrook man is accused of sexually assaulting a Palatine woman following their date last month.
Anthony Lamonica, who faces criminal sexual assault charges, was ordered held on $50,000 bail Friday. If convicted he faces up to 12 years in prison.
Prosecutors say Lamonica met the woman about a year ago at a Libertyville bar. They say he called her April 1, 2018, and arranged a date for April 6.
When they returned to the woman's Palatine home, she told Lamonica she had to pick up her dog from a neighbor, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Jennifer Gates. Lamonica told her he would like to meet the dog, who was dropped off by the neighbor, Gates said.
Later Lamonica began touching the woman, who told him she did not want to have sexual relations with him, Gates said. He pinned her to the bed and assaulted her, Gates said.
The woman told him to leave and texted a neighbor. Eventually he left and the woman went to a medical center, where a rape kit was performed, Gates said.
The woman identified Lamonica as her attacker, Gates said.
Lamonica next appears in court on May 31.
