Des Plaines woman killed in Park Ridge crash

A 68-year-old Des Plaines woman died Monday after her vehicle crashed into a truck in Park Ridge, officials say.

Mary Ann Neil, of the 800 block of Fairmont Court, was driving a 2016 Kia east on Touhy Avenue near Chester Avenue when the vehicle crossed lanes and struck a 2000 Mack truck shortly before 10 a.m.

Neil's car then struck a 2011 Chevy traveling east on Touhy Avenue, authorities said.

Park Ridge firefighters transported Neil to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The other drivers involved in the crash suffered injuries not considered to be life-threatening, police said.

Deputy Police Chief Duane Mellema said investigators are awaiting autopsy results to determine what may have caused Neil to cross into oncoming traffic.
