Elgin man charged with DUI after Bartlett rollover

An Elgin man faces a driving under the influence charge in connection with a rollover crash early Thursday morning in Bartlett.

Michael J. Rivera, 31, of the 2900 block of Kelly Drive in Elgin, also is charged with improper lane use and failure to wear a seat belt, Bartlett police said Tuesday.

He and the driver and passenger of a second vehicle were treated after the crash for injuries that were not life-threatening.

Police said Rivera was driving a 2012 Toyota Tundra east on Stearns Road about 12:20 a.m. Dec. 14 when his vehicle sideswiped a 2003 Ford Explorer traveling in the same direction.

The impact of the collision caused Rivera's vehicle to roll over and land on its roof. He was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates while the two occupants of the Ford Explorer were treated at the scene.

Rivera was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond with a future court date to be assigned by the DuPage County Circuit Court Clerk's Office.
