A man in his 70s was taken to the hospital with serious injuries Wednesday afternoon after a possible hit-and-run in Crystal Lake, police say.

Authorities were called at 2:10 p.m. to Main Street and Walkup Extension, where a bicyclist was reportedly struck by a car, according to a news release from the Crystal Lake Police Department.

The man was lying unconscious on the road with serious injuries when police arrived, according to the release. Rescue workers treated the bicyclist and later transported him to a hospital.

Witnesses reported seeing a small, silver sedan, driven by a white man wearing a neon-colored shirt, in the area after the bicyclist was found. This sedan left before police arrived, according to the release.
