U-46 gets 16 principals, administrators this fall
Sixteen new, and some familiar, faces will assume top administrative roles within Elgin Area School District U-46 this fall.
Among them are eight newly hired administrators, two returning employees, and six employees who have been promoted to fill vacancies.
Elementary school principals
• David Aleman at Otter Creek Elementary School in Elgin. He was the director of English language learning at Community Consolidated School District 93 in Bloomingdale. He previously was a classroom teacher at U-46's Ellis Middle School, and Spring Trail and Channing Memorial elementary schools.
• Kyle Bunker at Garfield Elementary School in Elgin. He was the principal at Anderson Elementary School for Arlington Independent School District in Arlington, Texas, since 2006.
• Noelle Dupuis at Hawk Hollow Elementary School in Bartlett. Dupuis has been the assistant principal at Leggee Elementary School in Huntley Community School District 158 since 2013.
• Abbie Eklund at Lincoln Elementary School in Hoffman Estates. Eklund has been with U-46 for 16 years and last served as the assistant principal at Otter Creek Elementary School in Elgin.
• Juan Henderson at Lowrie Elementary School in Elgin. Since 2016, Henderson was the assistant principal at Creekside Elementary School in Elgin.
• Maria Lopez at Laurel Hill Elementary School in Hanover Park. She was the assistant principal at Komensky Elementary School in Berwyn South School District 100 since 2013.
• Sarah Rabe at Centennial Elementary School in Bartlett. Rabe was assistant principal at West Ridge Elementary School in Chicago Public Schools since 2012.
• Maria Valdovinos-Bhatia at Sunnydale Elementary School in Streamwood. She was an assistant principal at Huff and Hilltop elementary schools, both in Elgin, and Nature Ridge Elementary School in Bartlett.
Middle school principals
• Luis Fernando De León at Tefft Middle School in Streamwood. He was principal of Laurel Hill Elementary School for four years and the 2016 Hanover Township Principal of the Year.
• Yvette Gonzalez-Collins at Ellis Middle School in Elgin. She was assistant principal at Coleman Elementary School since 2016.
Administrators
• Laura Macias is the new director of information services. She was a project coordinator in U-46's Plant Operations Department.
• Deborah Perryman is the new K-12 coordinator of science. She was a science teacher at Elgin High School the last 17 years.
• Jeffrey Prowell is the new director of transportation. He served in that role for the Humble Independent School District in Humble, Texas.
U-46 also has hired or promoted more than 20 people to fill vacancies for assistant principals, deans and chairs of high school divisions.
